If a person can’t walk away without fear of harm,
it’s trafficking.
— Mira Sorvina, UN Ambassador on HT

Per the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000 (TVPA), human trafficking is defined as:

Recruiting, harboring, transporting, providing, obtaining, patronizing, or soliciting of a person for labor or services through the use of force, fraud, or coercion for subjection to involuntary servitude, peonage/debt bondage, commercial sex acts or slavery.

"What does that mean?"

Simply put, Human Trafficking is modern-day slavery and involves the use of force, fraud, or coercion to obtain labor or a commercial sex act. Minors are an exception. Under Federal Law, any minor used in a commercial sex act is a victim of trafficking. Period.

"Where is this happening?"

Do I really need to worry about this? Yes! We can't profile a trafficker, a sex buyer, or a victim. Human slavery doesn't discriminate. If there is a buyer, there is a seller, in every zip code. Take a look at the heat map. How close are you to a known hot spot?
